Dry sift refers to a method of separating trichome resin glands from cannabis flowers to produce kief or hash.
It involves agitating and sieving dried plant material over a screen to collect the detached trichomes.
Dry sifting creates potent concentrates while preserving the terpenes and flavonoids of fresh flowers.
What is Dry Sift Hash?
Dry sift, also called dry sieve hash, uses various-sized mesh screens to manually isolate trichome resin heads from cured flowers.
By breaking off the brittle trichome stalks, the aromatic resin glands fall through the micron screen for collection.
The process simply requires dried cannabis buds and a series of stacked screens ranging from 25-120 microns.
Shaking or gently brushing the flowers over the screens knocks off the ripe trichomes. Some sifters use agitation methods like drum machines for efficiency. The fallen resin powder can then be pressed into hash.
Dry sift results in a full spectrum hash that captures all the aromatic complexity of the source flowers.
Solventless and unadulterated, dry sift is a traditional hash making technique that remains popular for its purity and potency.
