Ice water hash is a specific form of cannabis concentrate made using ice, water, filters, and original plant material.
It results in a potent, high-quality extract with exceptional flavor.
What is Ice Water Hash?
Table of Contents
Ice water hash, also called bubble hash, is made using a technique where trimmed cannabis buds or leaves are blended with ice and water to separate plant trichomes.
Trichomes are the crystal resin glands on cannabis flowers that contain desired cannabinoids and terpenes.
By agitating and filtering cannabis plant material in icy water, the cold temperature causes trichomes to become brittle and break off. The trichomes, being less dense than water, separate and can be filtered out.
High-quality stainless steel filters with specific micron sizes are used to catch the isolated trichome resin heads during this process.
The result is ice water hash – a concentrate composed primarily of the purified THC-rich glandular heads that provide effects and flavor.
How is Ice Water Hash Different from Other Extracts?
Unlike hydrocarbon extracts like butane hash oil (BHO), ice water hash is made using only water, ice, and filters. No solvents are required.
The process gently separates trichomes without using heat or pressure. This preserves more of the plant’s naturally occurring terpenes and cannabinoids compared to harsher extraction methods.
Ice water hash also contains a full spectrum of compounds from the trichome heads. Other extracts like distillate focus only on isolating THC.
With ice water hash, you get a broader range of beneficial components for a more well-rounded, high and richer flavor.
