What is Reversed?
Reversed refers to a cannabis plant that has switched from the flowering stage back to a vegetative state of growth.
This process, known as revegetation or re-vegging, is usually induced artificially with chemical treatments.
Silver thiosulfate or gibberellic acid can stimulate a flowering plant to start growing new leaf sets and stem branches again.
Revegetation is used to generate clones from flowering mothers or produce feminized seeds.
Female marijuana plants sprayed with chemicals develop male pollen sacs that release female pollen containing only X chromosomes.
Using this pollen to fertilize other female plants produces nearly 100% feminized seeds preferred by commercial growers.
Re-vegging also resets the plant’s life cycle after harvesting buds. New leaf and stem growth emerges in place of bud sites, allowing repeat harvesting.
However, yields and potency tend to decrease with each round. Reversed plants show odd growth, like single-bladed leaves and twisted stems.
