What is a Roach?
Table of Contents
A roach refers to the small unsmoked end of a joint, spliff, or blunt that is left over after most of it has been smoked.
As the end of the smoking material burns down, it becomes too small to hold or puff comfortably, leaving a roach.
Roaches are generally less than 2 inches long.
Should I Save my Roaches?
Some cannabis consumers choose to save substantial roaches instead of throwing them away in order to get the most out of their cannabis.
Large roaches still contain usable THC and cannabinoids that can provide effects if smoked later. Roaches are often put out and saved in an ashtray or plastic bag.
To smoke them later, a pipe or roach clip can be used to hold them.
However, roaches can be harsh to smoke as the heat damages the remaining product.
The paper also burns faster, making hits taste bad. If mold begins growing on stored roaches, smoking them could pose health risks.
For these reasons, some people choose to discard roaches after the joints are mostly finished. But for those looking to save money and get the most from their cannabis, saving roaches may be an option.
