Schwag refers to low-grade, low-potency cannabis that is typically dried and cured poorly.
This slang term originated in the 1960s and 70s as cheap, mass-produced cannabis entered the market.
What is Schwag?
Schwag describes poor-quality marijuana, often full of stems, seeds, and leaves.
It frequently contains very low THC levels, sometimes only 2 to 5% THC.
Schwag tends to have little aroma or flavor. It derives from outdoor-grown cannabis that is inefficiently processed and uncompressed into brick-like bundles for distribution.
Modern legalization has reduced schwag production, but low-budget growers may still produce it.
