What is a Scrog?
Scrogging (screen of green) is an advanced cannabis growing technique that uses a mesh screen to train and support cannabis plants during the flowering stage.
It helps maximize yields from the growing area.
Scrogging involves bending and weaving plant stems through openings in the mesh screen as they grow. This allows even light exposure and helps flatten the plant canopy.
When the growing tips peak above the screen in the flowering stage, they can be trimmed back to the screen level to encourage dense, evenly developed bud sites.
The result is a flat canopy of bud sites at roughly equal heights for optimal light absorption and impressive yields.
Scrogging requires some effort and planning for setup and plant training. Growers may build their screen frames or purchase self-contained scrog boxes.
The ideal mesh size is around 2 x 2 inches. The screen should be in place before the flowering stretch begins. Slowly bending stems through openings each day prevents stem breakage.
Scrogging improves efficiency and quantity for indoor growers with limited vertical space.
